Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and I thought it would be fun to suggest a creative gift for foodies: a cooking class. Recently I attended a demonstration class (given as a gift) at Draeger’s market in San Mateo California. The class featured Cakebread Cellars and their chef who selected and demonstrated a sample menu with appropriate wine pairings. It was a fun, instructive and delicious gift. The local farmers market is a great way to find fresh produce and get an opportunity to experience local communities. They are usually centered in or near the downtown and for people who like to walk in the neighborhood offer a great chance to experience the many different neighborhoods located within the San Francisco Peninsula.
Summer is upon us so for the next few weeks I am going to visit local markets in San Carlos, Menlo Park and Palo Alto. If you are new to the San Francisco Peninsula, check out the local farmers market, visit a local coffee shop or just take a walk in the neighborhood. Each locale has its own personality! The farmers market in San Carlos(located on Laurel Street) takes place every thursday evening from May to October(4 to 8 pm). So tonight I am off to downtown San Carlos! Next week I will visit Menlo Park.
This past Sunday we visited Kara’s Cupcakes located in the Town and Country shopping center in Palo Alto right next door to Sur La Table. It was a beautiful sunny day and patrons were lined up to place their orders. I ordered a Meyer Lemon cupcake that was delicious. I will leave it up to my readers to form their own personal favorites. Definitely worth a visit. Tomorrow’s blog will focus on real time data and the recent upswing in multiple offers on the San Francisco Peninsula.
The next few posts are simply for fun. We are going to be in search of the perfect cupcake.. . Several peninsula bakeries now feature gourmet cupcakes in addition to their other treats. Several have made cupcakes one of their signature items.
Last Saturday, we took a walk in downtown San Carlos on Laurel Street and stopped by Vanilla Moon. The cupcakes were delicious! Later this week, we will visit Palo Alto. I will leave it to my readers to decide which bakery has their favorite cupcake!
