Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and I thought it would be fun to suggest a creative gift for foodies: a cooking class. Recently I attended a demonstration class (given as a gift) at Draeger’s market in San Mateo California. The class featured Cakebread Cellars and their chef who selected and demonstrated a sample menu with appropriate wine pairings. It was a fun, instructive and delicious gift. So if you are looking for a fun evening….consider cooking school!

Today marks the return of my annual “Spring Fever” series which consists of a brief visit to several communities located on the San Francisco Mid Peninsula. Today’s blog covers Palomar Park which combines rural charm with a convenient Silicon Valley commute.
Tucked away behind Clifford School sits the unincorporated area of Redwood City known as Palomar Park. Comprised of approximately 250 homes this area lies north of Edgewood Road and is accessed by Scenic Road. Conveniently located between San Jose and San Francisco, this area offers rural appeal yet is close to shopping and major commute corridors. The area is marked by mature heritage oaks, winding roads and tranquil settings. The voluntary Palomar Park Homeowners Association sponsors many community events such as the annual summer picnic. “The Hill” as it is referred to by many residents has strong community involvement. Homes range in style from rustic cabins to newer contemporary homes.
